USRF supports programs to provide U.S. students and young professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to become the next generation of Russia experts.

Over the years, USRF has funded language and area studies programs, travel grants for language and cultural immersion (most recently — in Russian-speaking communities outside Russia), internships, as well as professional development and research opportunities for U.S. scholars.

USRF grants have supported regional, national, and international networks which provide important avenues for rising Russia experts to further their research capabilities and build exposure to career networks.

USRF's support includes grants to U.S. universities, thinks tanks, and professional associations that contribute to a better understanding of Russian society in the West.
