Tom Firestone

Tom Firestone is a partner in Government Investigations and White Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group in the law firm Squire, Patton, Boggs. His practice focuses on helping companies manage corruption risks and comply with sanctions in high risk markets.

Prior to entering private practice, he spent 14 years with the U.S. Department of Justice where he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, focusing on transnational organized crime and corruption cases, and also as the Resident Legal Adviser at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.  He twice won the U.S. State Department Superior Honor Award for his work on anti-corruption and the rule of law in Russia and also received a special award from the Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service for his work in promoting U.S.-Russian cooperation to combat transnational cartels.

He has published widely in both English and Russian on issues related to criminal justice in Russia and taught courses on anti-corruption at a Moscow law school.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors from Harvard College, received an MA from U.C. Berkeley in Political Science, and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School.  He is fluent in Russian and also has working knowledge of Polish.
